Create BABY Address via Keplr Wallet

Keplr is a popular browser extension wallet for Cosmos-based blockchains, including Babylon Genesis. This guide will walk you through setting it up and connecting to the correct testnet that will enable you to create your BABY address.

1. Installing Keplr

Visit the official Keplr website (keplr.app) and download the extension for your browser. Ensure you are on the official site to avoid scams.

Installation

Follow the on-screen instructions and click through to install the extension.

If you don’t see the Keplr icon in your tool bar, open the extension management and pin it.

2. Creating a New Wallet

Open Keplr

Click the Keplr extension icon in your browser toolbar.

Create Account

Select "Create a new wallet”

Seed Phrase

Click on “Create new recovery phrase”.  Then click on “I understood, Show my phrase.”. Keplr will display your 12-word seed phrase (also called a mnemonic phrases). This is critical! Store the phrase in a secure location offline, in the correct order. If you take a screenshot or copy and paste it, malicious software or a hacker might be able to steal it. Anyone with this phrase can access your funds.

Account Creation

You will be asked to confirm two words from your phrase. This ensures you've written it down correctly. Enter a preferred name for your wallet. Create a strong password to protect your wallet locally on your computer. This is separate from your seed phrase.

3. Connecting to the Babylon Testnet

Chain Selection

In chain selection step, search for “Cosmos Hub” and ensure it is ticked and click “Save”. Click”Finish” to go to the next page.

Add Babylon Network

In the main page of the wallet, there is a search bar you can use to find chains' visibilities. Start typing “Babylon…” then you will see two options. Choose “Babylon Phase-2 Testnet” to enable.

In the following page, tick the “Babylon Phase-2 Testnet 0 BABY” and click “Save”.

You should see your baby address, next to copy button and your BABY balance. The baby address should look like bbn1qem6alqe8a2x8rmmpd4yq435ry5h49y2mf4w0r.

4. Test Receiving Funds (Faucets)

Babylon Testnet

To test the wallet can receive funds. You can request some funds from a Babylon testnet faucet like L2Scan.

Visit https://babylon-testnet.l2scan.co/faucet L2Scan. In Keplr, with the Babylon testnet selected, you'll see your wallet address. Copy this address and paste it into the faucet website. Click on “Sign in” and continue using your email, crypto wallet, or Google SSO.

Click on “Get Faucet”, and wait for confirmation. In around 10 seconds, you wallet should reflect the received amount.

5. Security Reminders

Seed Phrase Security: Your seed phrase is the key to your wallet. Protect it at all costs.

Beware of Scams: Be very cautious of phishing websites and fake extensions. Always double-check URLs.

Testnet Address: The testnet address will be the same as your mainnet wallet so there is no need to create a new address to receive your airdrop. Once mainnet is launched, you can enable it on “Manage Chain Visibility”.

Using a crypto wallet comes with risk. If you lose access to your private keys or share your seed phrase, you could lose your digital assets forever. Always keep your wallet credentials secure and be cautious of scams or phishing attempts. Become proficient at using your wallet before you risk your digital assets. We can’t help recover lost or stolen assets, so it’s up to you to protect your wallet and digital assets, and only use trusted applications.
