Create BABY Address via Cosmostation Wallet

Cosmostation offers a widely-used browser extension for Cosmos SDK based chains. This guide will assist you in setting up Cosmostation and connecting to the Babylon Testnet.

Note that the Babylon key and address generated in the Babylon Testnet will be the same as the one your wallet will have with the Babylon Mainnet. Airdrops will be dropped to BABY addresses on the Babylon Mainnet.

1. Install Cosmostation Wallet

To begin, visit the Cosmostation extension website (https://cosmostation.io/products/cosmostation_extension) and download the extension for your Chrome browser. Ensure you are on the official site to avoid potential scams.

Installation Steps

Follow the on-screen instructions to install the extension.

If the Cosmostation Wallet icon does not appear in your toolbar, open the extension management settings and pin it.

2. Create a New Wallet

Open the Cosmostation Wallet by clicking the extension icon in your browser toolbar.

Agree to the terms of use and click “Start.”

Next, click on “Create Wallet” and assign a name to your wallet.

On the next page, your 12-word mnemonic phrase will be displayed. Make sure to write it down and store it securely. You will need to verify your seed phrase on the following page.

On the “Select Chains” page, ensure that “COSMOS” is enabled, then click “Next.”

Select a strong password for your account on the final step, then click “Done.”

3. Add Babylon Testnet Chain

Since Cosmostation does not have the Babylon Phase-2 Testnet pre-configured, you will need to add it manually. Click on the settings button in the top right corner and select “Add Custom Chain.”

On the “Add a Chain” page, you will find a long form. Fill in the following chain information, leaving the remaining fields blank.

One the next page, you will see your Babylon address that starts with bbn1 (for example bbn18gya3f9ga7dqe99c8a4mr76zdf8wpp22r7wmue). You can click on the wallet address to copy this to clipboard.

5. Test Receiving Testnet Funds

Babylon Testnet

You can test that your wallet can receive funds by submitting a request to a Babylon testnet faucet service, for example the one provided by L2Scan.

Visit https://babylon-testnet.l2scan.co/faucet L2Scan. In your Cosmostation Wallet, with the Babylon testnet selected, you'll see your wallet address. Copy this address and paste it into the faucet website. Click on “Sign in” (if you don’t have an account) create an user account using email, crypto wallet or google SSO.

Click on “Get Faucet”, and wait for confirmation. In around 10 seconds, you wallet should refect the received amount.

6. Security Reminders

Seed Phrase Security: Your seed phrase is the key to your wallet. Protect it at all costs.

Beware of Scams: Be very cautious of phishing websites and fake extensions. Always double-check URLs.

Testnet Address: The testnet address will be the same as your mainnet wallet so there is no need to create a new address in order receive your airdrop. Once mainnet is launched, you can find and enable it in the “Select network” section.

Using a crypto wallet comes with risk. If you lose access to your private keys or share your seed phrase, you could lose your digital assets forever. Always keep your wallet credentials secure and be cautious of scams or phishing attempts. Become proficient at using your wallet before you risk your digital assets. We can’t help recover lost or stolen assets, so it’s up to you to protect your wallet and digital assets, and only use trusted applications.
